Good morning to all! A few weeks ago I was contacted by Amanda,
@thefancymani, of Jamberry to swatch and review some summer wraps. Quite excited by this I instantly said YES! This is my first real swatch so I'm pretty stoked about that! I was asked to take a picture on the first day and then the 7th to see how they wear and give my honest review.
I had heard about nail wraps before but never really gave them a second thought. Honestly, I just assumed they'd be too difficult or I, with my clumsy and not-so-steady hands, would mess them up. Also, I have a tendency to picture how I want something in my mind and then I'll do it but fudge up the execution and then get all PO'd that it didn't look how I wanted. Yeah I wanted to avoid that...
Okay, getting to the wraps... Here is what I received in my swatching kit:
Tweezers, cuticle pusher (is that the correct name?), file, clippers, buffer, alcohol wipe and 2 sets of accent nail wraps. Let's take a closer look at those wraps, shall we?
Aren't these too cute?! It took me forever to decide which ones to use. I ended up choosing the chevron and the mint green with yellow polka-dots. I feel like I have wider nail beds so I really only had the bottom 4 to choose from. The rest wouldn't have covered my entire nail. That being said, when you order a full sheet, you have many more options as far as sizes go so don't let that deter you. Now for the application...
I was pretty nervous going into this. You basically have one shot at it so I really wanted to it to be perfect! I did my pinky nail first. As you can see, there are a few ridges at the tip of my nail. I tried so many times to heat it up and smooth it out by rubbing with my fingers and pushing with the cuticle stick but it just wouldn't flatten out. There are also a few ridges along the sides as well though you might not be able to see them. The second time I used the chevron on my ring finger and the application went much smoother so I attribute the first one to just being new at it. Also, I was able to move a bit faster this time. I even did them on my Cinderella hand and it got easier every time. You just need to practice. Here is the finished product. I used Essie 'Tart Deco' for the other two. And yes, that's a film canister...
Here is a short demo, though you really should check it out on my
Instagram if you have a chance. It's much clearer and all steps are shown. A super BIG thanks to my sweet hubby for helping me with all of the pictures and video for this review!
I used a blow dryer to heat up my wraps but you can use a small space heater too.
My overall review: These were fun! I would recommend these if you don't have time to paint your nails or do an intricate design. Or don't want to bother with waiting for your nails to dry. The application is pretty fast. I think you'll definitely need to practice before you get them to lay perfectly smooth on your nail (at least for me!). Even with applying more heat, I still couldn't get the wrap to perfectly adhere the first few times. Also, applying the heat can become very hot and uncomfortable on your nails and hands. These are said to last for about 10 days or more, though with the wear and tear I put my hands though (typing all day, washing baby bottles and dishes), I'd say mine may only last for about a week. All in all, I would use these again! They're very fun and would be great to in a party setting like a baby or bridal shower! The design possibilities are endless, too! See for yourself at their
website.
